The next generation of plant breeders needs a unique degree of knowledge and flexibility to react to rapidly changing environments, consumer preferences and political frameworks. The continuous progress in science and technology revolutionizes the way plant breeding is conducted. Novel hard skills are required to be able to harness the potential of these developments. The plant breeder of the future has to interact in diverse and interdisciplinary working environments, making soft skills an essential basis for successful careers. Awareness of the challenges ahead for plant breeding and how to prepare for them, is therefore of immense importance for students and recent graduates of plant breeding related fields.
We invite you to join us in November 18, 2013 at the University of Hohenheim for our graduate student symposium: Future challenges of plant breeding - "Preparing the next generation". During the day, speakers representing academia as well as large and medium sized private breeding companies will address the issues raised above from their unique perspective and experience.
This symposium was made possible thanks to the generous financial support by Dupont Pioneer. If you are interested in taking part in our symposium, please fill in the provided registration form. Please do not hesitate to contact us in case of questions or comments.
We are looking forward to see you in Hohenheim,
The Organizing Team.
